The Strides for Hope 5K moved to a new venue this year. After a
number of successful years at the Westerville Community Center a
decision was made to move downtown. We had outgrown our home. After
careful consideration and planning with city officials, Genoa Park was
selected. On September 11, 2011 with a little trepidation and a lot of
excitement, the OCAO began a new era.
The move has proven to be an extremely successful one. There were a
few bumps which are already being addressed, but overall this was a
very successful year for the annual Strides for Hope 5K. Over 2072
registered walkers, runners and volunteers participated in this year's
event. A grand total of over $121,000 was raised and after expenses were
paid we expect to net over $98,000.
We would like to thank our committee chair, Sarah Graf, co-chair,
Elya Shaffer, volunteer coordinators, Rachel Yensel and Terri Cassidy,
and Teal Mall coordinator, Kathy Howson, as well as the 5K committee
members and volunteers who worked so hard to make the day a success.
We are also extremely appreciative of the generosity of our
sponsors, our honorary chair, Monica Day of WCMH Channel 4, our DJ, Mark
Dantzer of 107.9 and Mark Dantzer Productions. And we wouldn't be where
we are today without you. Thank you for your continued support in our
mission to raise awareness, educate the public and support the women and
families impacted by this disease.
Please enjoy the pictures from the 2011 Strides for Hope 5K. The photos seen here were taken by OCAO Marketing Asst. Chair Liz Porter, OCAO Marketing Intern Kenzie Kraft and Matt Vant.
